Our Project of the Year 2022

Trent and Brooke Cotchin’s Home by Morgan Ferry Design

CDK Stone has enjoyed working with many different clients this year and helped create a variety of masterpieces that we’re proud to be involved in. One project that stood out in the mind of CDK Stone was a contemporary and elegant home created by Morgan Ferry of Morgan Ferry Design. This home belongs to triple-premiership Richmond FC Captain and Brownlow Medallist, Trent Cotchin, and businesswoman and popular influencer, Brooke Cotchin. Situated in the inner-city suburb of Moonee Ponds, Morgan Ferry’s design for Trent & Brooke Cotchin’s house combines practicality and ease of living with beauty and style. Making use of warm colours and inviting stones, this project perfectly embodies a family home, making it CDK Stone‘s Project of the Year for 2022.

As featured in Homes to Love’s ‘The 13 most popular Australian homes of 2022’, the space emanates warmth and welcomes homeowners and visitors alike into its comforting space. The spacious and alluring kitchen features Versilia Marble on the benchtop and splashback, adding dimension and personality. The design of this kitchen will make the homeowners feel like professional chefs in the comfort of their own home and is a great place for children to create and have fun as well. This energy follows through the entirety of the home and creates a family-oriented surrounding for all to enjoy.

This energy follows through the entirety of the home and creates a family-oriented surrounding for all to enjoy. A secret door to a hidden butler’s pantry, creates a special feature in their home that only they know about. This allows the home to have a unique quality that feels personalised to the needs of the Cotchin family. Walking into the butler’s pantry and laundry, Versilia Marble is similarly used on the benchtops and splashbacks to create a consistent scheme that elicits serenity.

Entering the master bedroom, this space uses Cote D’Azur Marble for the fireplace which elevates the room, yet allows the gold hues to remain a key design aspect. This small addition of gold, grey and white in the marble helps create an atmosphere of elegance that is unparalleled by other marbles.

The Cote D’Azur Marble makes a statement with other finishes to create a cosy and classic bedroom. This interior style is representative of a Melbournian lifestyle and culture that is both busy and thriving, but also recognises our need for a restorative space.

Perfectly synergising the bright white tiles and the richness of the deep black finish of the fireplace, Cote D’Azur Marble also helps create an idealistic and comforting haven in other rooms such as the living room and study. Working in a study space such as this will alleviate one’s stresses from the outside world and allow a feeling of peace in the calming interior.

The stonework of this home is nothing less than perfect and helps in producing a home that is an exceptional work of art. These small features help in creating a home that seamlessly combines family values and luxury that any Melbournian is sure to enjoy and relax in.

The utilisation of neutral colours flowing throughout the home creates an energy that any family is sure to love. Throughout this project, Morgan Ferry has poured his heart and soul into making their vision a reality. The Cotchin’s home is the perfect mix of practicality for a young family, and the sophistication and refinement of a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
